2nd Anniversary of Karen McDougal at her Best:

... this website achieved something incredible. Over the past 2 Years this website became a central place for all Karen McDougal fans, to search for and to share pictures and wallpapers, interviews and articles, links and other information. And even Karen McDougal visited it and addressed a letter to her fans.

... with stumbling over pictures of Karen McDougal. Unfortunately I've never seen her real Playboy issues myself, probably because I'm from Germany. After collecting pictures and scans through the web for years and sorting the pictures, I noticed that it's impossible to get much further with my collection the way I used to take. Other fans surely had more luck or found other websites I never would or will. So if I can't get to the pictures, maybe they can get to me through other fans. And since you never get without giving I started bringing up my own collection for others to compare and to synchronize and with the hope others may give in return. And in order to ease it I tried to categorize, to sort and to label them as good as I was able to.

... numerous fans this page was able to increase galleries stepwise, organizing them in a clear overview and finally collect ...

... definitely seams to be a ... (sorry) pain in the ass for quite many people. But just with it this page was able to survive over 2 years and to develop. I tried to ensure some feedback and it brought me motivation, insights, comments, critics, fun, information, reasons, respect and dedication. More than 30 mails impressed me so much, that I decided to add them to the website as remarkable fan mails with extraordinary dedication.

..., as far as I can approximate for 2 years, got filled with more than 4000 mails from fans overall. Thereof approximately ...

• more than 2000 answered login requests
• ca. 1000 rejected request mails
• more than 200 mails with picture attachments
• more than 400 mails I didn't worked through or answered
• plus an uncounted number of spam mails of course.

... were good free web space providers with advantages (they are free) and disadvantages (like the traffic limit of course). The hourly traffic restriction doesn't ease collecting pictures at once of course, but it also keeps the website from being unavailable for the rest of the month, once the traffic is used up. Good point, isn't it? Oh by the way, did you know that this website uses more than 10 different Geocities accounts? 1st because 15MB per account is not enough for 10% of the galleries, 2nd to reduce the downtime per account and to minimize it especially for the pages you navigate on.

The internet is a funny place. You visit one website after another, fan page after fanpage, but you never get a feeling of who else is there right now, who else is interested in and searching for just the same thing as you do. Of course often you don't wanna know and some people probably never care. But that doesn't make it less interesting.

So depending on what you feel like or what kind of fan or usual internet user you are, you should (or not) take a look at the following. A few polls results, a few statistics and some notes about fans of Karen McDougal and visitors of Karen McDougal at her Best.

A lot of fans know Karen from her beginning as Playmate of the Month in December 1997 and together with her Playmate of the Year pictorials it already covers the majority of her fan community. Interesting but clear somehow too is the number of fans becoming aware of her through the internet. Since more people do so over time, then seeing her in the PB issue from 1997, this number increase by 8% in the last half year. (This poll is still open for you to give your vote in case you haven't yet.)
However, I like the marked count of 1% who met Karen McDougal in person. Unfortunately I don't belong to this small percentage, especially since I heard incredibly nice things and stories about Karen.

When you look at these poll results the high count of North America is no surprise, however Europe is quite close. Seams like in the web geographical distance looses importance. Even though I'm sure there are true beauties in other countries as well, I guess the US Playboy is still doing a way better job in promoting their Playmates or they are just a lot more present in the web.

Another poll, which is running for half a year now gives an overview on how other fans benefit from this website. I'm really proud of the outcome and gladly pass it on to the people who supported me with pictures, wallpapers and stuff. And I hope that this 5% of visitors who affirm to have a bigger / better collection were and still are trying to work on that.

An interesting question, probably just or mainly for a webmasters, is the how often or regularly people come back to look for updates. But even though this poll result looks promising it is certainly not representative, since regular visitors tent to be more up to vote than one-time visitors. That's why I run this poll for interest but I don't give it too much credit, I guess.

Another thing you seldom come across is a reliable counter information. Of course every private website has a counter, but mostly they are a part of the website, a design element, to make it look cool and sometimes with number far from reality or significance. Not even I can tell if the shown numbers are correct but I tried to place the counter right to get close at least.

Much happened in the past 2 years. There had been 3 different logins due to people posting it on a public place. The first time I had to change it I regard as the usual ignorance quite in the beginning. However it made me rethink the system. The second time was a blast at the end of 2003 which made me stop my work on the page and almost sealed its fate. But with the help of motivating mails and notes from other fans and with the experience I gained through the "Lisa Dergan at her Best" page I fortunately made it to completely reset this Karen McDougal fanpage. If you wanna know how it looked like before, check out the very last picture in the fanart section. And to last years 1st anniversary I dropped the blue scheme and turned to the golden color it's glowing in now.

Beside that the main factor in visitor numbers is the rating in search engines like google and yahoo. Varying ratings from the top of the list to "not rated" had a big effect. And maybe even current changes in the counter system cause the latest high.

The following polls were meant to give an idea of how different fans think of the different galleries in comparison. Due to the number of galleries each poll just covers one gallery section of this website, which should combine them in a certain fitting combination I hope. Unfortunately I didn't make it yet to start a cross-rating between them. But that can be the next step. (The last two parts didn't get enough votes yet to be of higher significance.)

Some people are asking me to keep the updates coming. I would like to and you know that. But you also know that new pictures get rare more and more. However, I will try to add new pictures as I receive or find them.

... will go on. I don't know how much and how long or with what but that's my aim at least. Currently I shy at building up galleries from bottom up and the work it promises. But as I already know from the past this is based on my daily mood and attitude, which can change from on day to another and make me thirst for working on it.
